Notes
From the end of this.
Floored, I was. So much so that I wrote it down in my book.
But then I started thinking.
Mr. Godin said that sentence after saying that, over time, the cost of failure has dropped to practically nothing, so the worst thing that can happen if you try to make something is that you’ll fail and that no-one will even know it.
Well, he’s wrong - I think that sentence should be amended to say that no-one else will notice your failure. No-one other than you, I mean. Because of that, I’d say that there’s still a hefty cost associated with failure. Sure, the financial cost of starting a Wordpress.com blog is nil, so if your thing’s a failure then you’re not out of pocket, but what about the emotional cost of failure? You noticed that you failed, and it hurts to see something that you’re passionate about fail. If being hurt (repeatedly, in the case of multiple failures) isn’t a cost, I don’t know what is.
It’s coming up to the weekend. I’m going to make something this weekend. If it’s a failure (hell, even if it isn’t a failure), I’ll try making something else. Rinse and repeat. My github profile can always use some more projects on it.
Positive attitude. Positive attitude.
